Overtime Allowance:
Overtime Allowance for Central Government Employees is now restricted to operational staff only. OM dated 19.06.2018 issued by DOPT defines Operational Staff as “All Ministerial non-gazetted Central Government Servants directly involved in smooth operation of the office including those tasked with operation of Electrical or mechanical equipment”

SC/ST Reservation for promotion in Central Government Service:
Hon’ble Supreme Court has passed orders on 17.05.2018 in SLP No. 30621 /2011 to the effect that pendency of SLP relating to SC/ST reservation for promotion in Central Government Service, the matter which has been referred to Constitutional Bench, would not affect promotion orders issued by Govt.
In this regard, DOPT has issued OM dated 15.06.2018 allowing Cadre Controlling Authorities to issue promotion order as per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Advance given to Family of Central Government Employees died in Service fixed at Rs. 25,000/-
While many of Advances existed prior to 7th Pay Commission implementation were discontined as per the recommendations of the commission, Advance amount released to Family of Central Government Employee died in service under Rule 80 Compendium of Rules on Advances has been retained and the limit for same fixed as Rs. 25,000/-.
Child Care Leave:
DOPT has issued an importantt OM dated 22.06.2018 relating to Child Care Leave extended to Women Central Government Employees for removing the age limit in the case of disabled child.

Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance clarified that GST paid over and above Travel Entitlement limit under Travelling Allowance Rules for Central Government Employees is also payable.
