Haryana Government Declares 2 per cent Increase in Dearness Allowance For Employees

7th pay commission: The state government of Haryana has declared a two per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) on the revised pay scale of the employees, with effect from July 1, 2018. The pay hike which was announced as a Diwali gift for its employees will cost an additional Rs 182.80 crore for the government from July 1, 2018, to February 2019 in the financial year 2018-19.

While the state government employees have been assured of a pay hike gift from the government, the Central Government is yet to announce benefits for their employees beyond the 7th pay commission recommendation. The benefits and pay that the central government employees are receiving are based on a fitment factor of 2.57 times as recommended by the 7th pay commission. However, the employees of the central government are demanding a pay hike that equals a fitment factor of 3.68 times. The central government employees are entitled to receive a two per cent hike in their Dearness Allowance, as per the recommendations of the 7th pay commission. The announcement of the pay hike was made in the last week of August by the Centre.

A certain section of staff from Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir have not yet received their benefits due, as recommended by the 7th pay commission, even as the rest of the state government employees enjoy their Diwali gifts. The teachers of the Jammu and Kashmir are yet to receive their benefits and are thus protesting till their demands are met. The teachers are demanding for the hike in their pay scale under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC).

While the state government panel in Bihar is yet to submit its report on the pay hike demand, states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura and Puducherry have already sent assurance to provide the required benefits as allotted by the 7th pay commission to their employees.
