Pension payable to retiring Central Government Employees

Pension is paid to Central Government Employees who have joined Central Government Service before 01.01.2004 under (CCS Pension) Rules 1972.

Last revision of Pension paid to Central Government Employees was made with effect from 1st January 2016 as per the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission. Initially, Central Government Pensioners retired prior to 1st January 2016 were granted revised pension by multiplying the the existing basic pension prior to 1st January 2016 by 2.57. Then to examine the second option recommended by 7th Pay Commission for revising the pension based on number of increments earned, a committee was formed by Government. This Committee also presented an alternate method of revising the Pension of Central Government Pensioners on the basis of Notional Pay arrived at based on 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix and earlier pay commission’s pay fixation methods.

For speedy and error free process of Pension fixation for retiring central government employees, a Pension Sanction & Payment Tracking System called ‘BHAVISHYA’ was launched by Govt. Subsequently, with effect from 1st January 2017, processing of pension fixation through Bhavishya portal was made mandatory.

The system provides online tracking of pension sanction and payment process by the individual as well as the administrative authorities. The system captures the pensioners personal and service particulars. The forms for processing of pension can be submitted online. It keeps retiring employees informed of the progress of pension sanction process through SMS/E-Mail. The system obviates delays in payment of pension by ensuring complete transparency.
