RECRUITMENT REGULATIONS OF STAFF AND OFFICERS OF ESIC
199. DR. K. LAXMAN:
Will the Minister of Labour and Employment be pleased to state:
(a) whether the recruitment regulations of staff and officers of the Employeesโ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) are to remain at par with those applicable to the officers and employees of the
Central Governmentอพ
(b) if so, whether Government has taken any steps to review the existing terms and conditions of the staff of the ESIC to ensure conformity of their service conditionsอพ and
(c) if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER

(SHRI BHUPENDER YADAV)
(a) to (c): As per provisions under Section 17 of the Employeesโ State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948, the method of recruitment, salary and allowances, discipline and other conditions of service of the members of the staff of the ESI Corporation are to be in accordance with the rules and orders applicable to the officers and employees of the Central Government drawing corresponding scales of pay.
Accordingly, in terms of the provisions under the Employees State Insurance Act, 1948, the Employeesโ State Insurance Corporation (Staff & Conditions of Service) Regulations, 1959 were framed by the Employees State Insurance Corporation. Based on review of these regulations, the Employees State Insurance Corporation (Staff & Conditions of Service) Regulations, 2023 were notified by the Employees State Insurance Corporation on 19.06.2023. In line with the revised regulations, the Employees State Insurance Corporation has under taken review of the recruitment regulations of its staff and officers.
