Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) whether various posts in the Post offices of the country are lying vacant, if so, the details thereof;
(b) the steps being taken by the Government to fill such posts; and
(c) the time by which such posts would be filled?

(a) Yes sir. The details of the vacancies in Department of Posts including vacancies in post offices are as under

| Group A- | 236 |
| Group B- | 7743 |
| Group C- | 67405 |
| Total- | 75384 |
(b) & (c) The vacancies occur due to superannuation, promotion, resignation, death etc. Filling up of vacancies through various modes, viz. direct recruitment, promotion etc., as per the laid down procedure and schedule is a continuous process.
