LTC for Central Government Employees – LTC 80 Air fare List for the month of March 2019 – Applicable for Central Government Employees, PSU, Defence and Bank Employees

Air India LTC 80 scheme was introduced from 1 December 2008, for LTC travellers entitle to Travel by Air. As per LTC 80 Scheme, restriction of the Air Travel on the LTC to Air India’s LTC-80 fares with effect from 1st December, 2008.

It also includes, admissibility of LTC claims of Government officials in cases where the air fare paid for travel by Air India happens to be less than LTC-80 class of Air India. It is clarified that reimbursement of air fare lower than LTC-80 air fare of Air India will also be admissible for journeys performed by Air India under LTC as the intention is to ensure that the LTC claim should not in any case, exceed LTC-80 fare of Air India.

Who can perform journey by Air?

Central Government Employees drawing grade pay of Rs.5400 and above can travel by air for the tours performed on official duty and while proceeding on LTC. In addition to this eligibility, all Central Government employees can either fully travel by air or for partial distance depending on the classification of their post as “A”, “B” or “C”, while proceeding on LTC to North East Region and Jammu & Kashmir. However, the air fare that is reimbursed by the Government for LTC will be restricted to LTC 80 fare relating to flights operated by Air India.

As per LTC Rule,

where journey is performed by Air, it is permitted to all entitled employees by LTC rules under the following conditions:

• Travel by Air India only.
• In Economy class only, irrespective of entitlement.
• LTC-80 ticket of Air India only to be purchased.
• Air Tickets may be purchased directly from Airlines (at Booking counters/Website of Airlines) or by utilizing the services of Authorized Travel Agents viz. M/s Balmer Lawrie & Company, M/s Ashok Travels & Tours and IRCTC

LTC 80 for Private Airlines

LTC 80 is a scheme offered by Air India for booking air tickets when central government officers avail LTC. Prior to July 2009, tariff under LTC 80 was not very significant as officers were allowed to travel in private airlines while claiming LTC. In such cases rates under LTC 80 were reimbursed to officers irrespective the amount spent by them for travelling in private airlines.

However, after July 2009, except for travel to NER and J&K availing LTC, travel by private airlines while proceeding on LTC is not allowed and further officers are allowed to claim only the amount not exceeding the LTC 80 rates, when they travelled by Air India in the categories other than LTC 80.
