Central Government may grant Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits to the Bhopal Kendriya Vidyalayas retired teachers soon – Lok Sabha

7th Pay Commission: The Central Government is mulling to grant Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits to the Bhopal Kendriya Vidyalayas retired teachers. The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made announcement in this regard in the Lok Sabha while replying to a question during the recently concluded Winter Session of the Parliament. After the Central Government’s approval for these benefits, those Bhopal Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers who have retired after March 2019 will be able to get Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits, which they are not getting currently. Pokhriyal said that the Central Government has asked for the budget in this regard and soon Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits will be implemented for the Bhopal Kendriya Vidyalaya pensioners.

In a question asked by Prabhubhai Nagarbhai Basawa whether the Gratuity and Commuted Pension is being given to the Bhopal Kendriya Vidyalayas, if not why it is not being given to the KVS pensioners even after more than seven months of their retirement? Basawa also asked what the Central Government was doing to give Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits to the KVS pensioners who retired after March 2019. The HRD Minister replied to Basawa citing lack of budgetary allocation was the reason for delay in Gratuity and Commuted Pension benefits to the Bhopal KVS pensioners.

It has to be noted that in August 2019, the Central Government had decided to increase salary of the Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers. As per the orders passed by the Department of Order of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Grade Pay of the Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers were increased to Rs 4,600 from Rs 4,200 that meant enhancing their Level of Employment from Level-6 to Level-7. This order led to increase in monthly salary of the Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers to the tune of Rs 5,000.
