CGHS Issues Clarification on Package Rates for Investigations and OPD Consultation
The Directorate General of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has issued a clarification regarding certain provisions in the revised CGHS package rates notified earlier.
The clarification comes in response to representations received on specific components of the Office Memorandum dated October 3, 2025, which had introduced revised CGHS rates for treatment at empanelled healthcare organisations.
Clarification on MRI Investigation Code
The CGHS has clarified the description of Investigation Code RI134. As per the latest order, it will now be read as:
“MRI Dorsal/Dorso Lumbar Spine/Cervical/Cervico Dorsal Spine – Without Contrast.”
This clarification aims to remove ambiguity in the earlier description of the investigation code.
Revision in OPD Super Specialist Consultation
The Directorate has also clarified the consultation charges category under OPD Code CN003. The revised description in Annexure 2 (Section 7) will now read:
“OPD – Super Specialist (DM/MCh/DNB-SS) or equivalent.”
It has been further specified that “equivalent qualification” will be determined as per the norms of the National Medical Commission.
Part of Earlier CGHS Rate Notification
The Office Memorandum states that these clarifications will be treated as an integral part of the earlier CGHS order dated October 3, 2025, which notified the revised package rates.
