Posting of Husband and Wife at Same Station: No Proposal to Extend Policy to Autonomous Bodies
The Government has clarified that the existing policy on posting of husband and wife at the same station applies to Central Government employees, and there is currently no proposal to extend this benefit to employees of autonomous or statutory bodies.
This information was provided by Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a written reply to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha.
Existing Guidelines Applicable to Central Government Employees
The Government has issued instructions through DoPT Office Memorandum No. 28034/9/2009-Estt. (A) dated September 30, 2009. These guidelines were circulated to all Ministries and Departments and deal with the posting of spouses at the same station, provided that one of the spouses is employed in Central Government service.
No Extension Planned for Autonomous or Statutory Bodies
Responding to queries regarding the applicability of these guidelines to Centrally funded autonomous or statutory bodies and institutes, the Government stated that no such extension is currently under consideration.
It was further clarified that there is no proposal to amend or issue any clarification to include employees of such bodies within the scope of the existing policy.
