7th Pay Commission: The Dearness Allowance (DA) for July 2019 would be 17 per cent. As per a report, the DA for July-December 2019 period would be five per cent more from DA for January to June, 2019 period, when it was 12 per cent. The five per cent DA raise has been confirmed with the release of June 2019 All India Consumer Price Index Numbers (AICPIN). The AICPIN for June 2019 is 316, which is two points more that May 2019 AICPIN.

When to expect more DA in salary

Central Government employees can expect the July 2019 DA to reflect in October 2019 salary.

Central government employees have been expecting salary hike. They have been waiting for a formal announcement to be made by the government.

Currently, central government employees are getting 12 per cent DA, which was implemented on January 2019. These employees will now get five per cent more DA.

Earlier, as per the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) data, the government employees were already expecting five per cent DA for H-2 2019. Some media reports had claimed that the DA announcement may be delayed till September 2019 so that the DA announcement should come ahead of the festival season beginning with Dussehra festival.

The five per cent hike in DA would be the biggest since the implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations in 2016.

DA is announced on a half-yearly basis. Speaking on the calculation behind DA hike, Harishankar Tiwari, Ex-President, AG Office Brotherhood, which is based in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh has told Zee Business Online earlier, “The July 2019 DA is yet to be announced but as per the AICPI data, the DA hike is likely to be 5 per cent in H-2 2019.”

Tiwari had said DA hike may not be delayed and announced ahead of the festival season. The Government was, however, reportedly mulling to announce the DA hike in August itself.
