Bharat Pensioners Samaj Seeks Urgent Steps to Operationalize 8th Central Pay Commission

The Bharat Pensioners Samaj (BPS), a prominent national federation representing senior citizens and pensioners, has written to the Hon’ble Finance Minister and the Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), urging expedited action on the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
While expressing gratitude for the government’s decision in January 2025 to constitute the 8th CPC, the BPS has raised concern over the delay in finalizing the Terms of Reference (ToR) and appointment of the Chairman and Members of the Commission. The letter highlights that the prolonged silence on these key steps has created anxiety, speculation, and confusion among pensioners and government employees alike.
The BPS strongly appealed for:
- Early finalization of the Terms of Reference (ToR),
- Prompt appointment of the Chairman and Members of the 8th CPC, and
- Ensuring representation of pensioners in the Commission.
In the letter signed by S.C. Maheshwari, Secretary General of BPS, the federation emphasized that clear communication and timely action will not only curb misinformation but also ensure that the Commission functions effectively and submits its recommendations on schedule.
The appeal underscores the criticality of moving forward to meet the expectations of millions of pensioners across India who rely on the outcomes of the Pay Commission for their financial well-being.
