Odisha government increased 5% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike and 10 percent arrears to their employees as per 7th Pay Commission implementations

7th Pay Commission: In what comes as a big news, another state has approved DA hike for its employees along with clearing 10 per cent arrears. The Odisha government last week increased Dearness Allowance of the state government employees to 5 per cent with effect from January 1, 2020. After the latest increase, the DA of Odisha government employees stands at 14 per cent. The government has also approved 10 per cent arrears for the employees as part of the 7th Pay Commission implementations.

The 10 pct arrears dues will be cleared with effect from January 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017 as per Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2017 during 2019-20 financial year.

“The work-charged employees shall get the above 10% arrears salary in the same manner as applicable to regular government employees in terms of paragraph-1 of Finance Department Resolution No. 26347/F on September 7, 2017,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, in a press statement.

The decision to increase the Dearness Allowance by 5 per cent is likely to benefit around 3.5 lakh Odisha state government employees.

According to the under ORSP (Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules) rules, 2017, was fixed, the Odisha government employees were allowed to draw the revised salary from September 2017 onward without the payment of any arrears salary from January 1, 2016, to August 31, 2017.

Last month, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for all its employees at various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Corporations. Post this decision, the annual salary of the Level-1 employees of UP Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Corporations will go up by nearly Rs 26,000.
