If the administrative Ministries/Departments and other borrowing organisations wish to retain an officer beyond five years, they may extend the tenure of deputation
Delegation of powers to Ministries / Departments / Borrowing Organisations to extend deputation tenure upto 7 years in cases of Deputations. No extension of deputation beyond 7 years is to be allowed unless provided in the relevant Recruitment Rules of such deputation post.

Railway Officers on deputation can retain Railway accommodation for a period of 2 months. If the deputation is on mandatory basis the accommodation can be continued.
Deputation is not DA indexed so far. 7th CPC has recommended to hike Deputation allowance by 2.25 times. The ceilings of this allowance will further rise by 25 percent each time DA increases by 50 percent.
