Subject: Appeal of Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare to donate minimum of Rs. 200/- to Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF).

The undersigned is directed to forward herewith a copy of D.O. letter No. 7(7)2020-D (Res-II) dated 10th October 2021, received from D/o Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, the contents of which are self explanatory.

2. It is requested that the appeal made by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare may be brought to the notice of the DDOs and all the employees working in respective Ministry/Department including the Attached/Subordinate offices and other organizations for necessary action.

An appeal issued by Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence for contributions to AFFDF is forwarded. The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on 7th December every year to honour martyrs and men in uniform who fought bravely not only to protect the borders of our nation but also fight terrorism and insurgency. On this day, donations are collected from the general public for AFFDF which are used for the welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, dependents of the martyrs and ESM including the disabled.

2. As such it is requested to kindly solicit the cooperation of the staff/officers of all Ministries/ Departments to voluntarily donate a minimum amount of Rs. 200/- out of their salaries for the month of Nov, 2021 so that the amount so collected is available before the Flag Day. The contributions may please be sent by 2 Dec.2021, to Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat, West Block 4, Wing 7, R.K. Puram, New Delhi- 110066.

APPEAL

Dear Citizens,

The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence has been working for the welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, wards of martyred soldiers and ESM including disabled by providing financial assistance for their identified personal needs such as penury grant, children’s education grant, funeral grant, medical grant and orphan/disabled children grant. This financial assistance is provided out of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) which contributions are received from the general public on the Armed Forces Flag Day (AFFD) which is celebrated on 7th December every year. Efforts are required to increase the contribution to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to meet the increasing requirement of financial assistance for our ex-servicemen, their wards and war­ widows.

All citizens of India are requested to take the opportunity on this Flag Day on 7th December, to connect with the cause of war-widows, ESM, wards of the martyred soldiers and contribute generously to AFFDF in solidarity with our soldiers and their NoKs/dependents. Contributions to AFFDF are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80G(5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act,1961.
