PFRDA Extends NPS Same-Day Investment Cut-off to 1:30 PM for Faster Processing of Contributions
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has extended the cut-off time for same-day investment of National Pension System (NPS) contributions received by the Trustee Bank. Under the revised framework, contributions received up to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day will now be eligible for same-day investment, replacing the earlier cut-off time of 11:00 AM.
The move is aimed at improving subscriber experience by enabling faster investment of NPS contributions and enhancing operational efficiency across the NPS ecosystem.
Revised Cut-off Time for Same-Day Investment
As per the circular dated 4 August 2026, NPS contributions received by the Trustee Bank up to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day will be considered for investment on the same day, provided the contributions are successfully matched and booked.
Units for such contributions will be allotted based on the applicable closing Net Asset Value (NAV) of that day in accordance with the existing regulatory framework.
Applicable to All Contribution Channels
The extended cut-off time will apply to all categories of NPS contributions received through various channels, including:
- Government Nodal Offices
- Points of Presence (PoPs)
- eNPS
- D-Remit
- Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS)
- UPI
- STAR NPS
- Tatkal NPS
- Any other contribution channels introduced in the future
Advisory for Subscribers and Intermediaries
PFRDA has advised NPS subscribers and all associated intermediaries—including PoPs, Corporates, Government Nodal Offices and Payment Gateway Service Providers (PGSPs)—to initiate fund transfers well in advance so that contributions reach the Trustee Bank by 1:30 PM on Business Settlement Days.
This will ensure that eligible contributions receive the benefit of same-day investment.
The regulator has also directed all intermediaries to align their operational and technology processes with the revised timeline to facilitate seamless implementation of the updated same-day investment framework.
