City Union Bank Authorised to Disburse Central Government Pensions
In a move that will expand banking options for Central Government pensioners, the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, has authorised City Union Bank Ltd. to function as an authorised bank for the disbursement of Central Civil Pensions.
The approval has been conveyed through an office order issued on 10 March 2026, following the completion of required integration and testing procedures with the pension payment system.
City Union Bank Integrated with CPAO System
According to the order, the Central Accounts Section (CAS) of the Reserve Bank of India granted the necessary privileges and authorisation to City Union Bank Ltd. to undertake pension disbursement activities.
After completing the required testing and procedural formalities, CPAO has integrated City Union Bank’s Centralised Pension Processing Centre (CPPC) along with all its branches into its pension payment database. This integration will allow the bank to handle pension transactions and report them for daily settlement of pension cases.
The CPPC of City Union Bank authorised for this purpose is located at:
CPPC, City Union Bank Ltd.
18/23, Ground Floor, WEA
Karol Bagh, New Delhi – 110005
Bank Can Now Function as CPPC
Following the successful integration, CPAO has formally approved City Union Bank to begin functioning as a Centralised Pension Processing Centre (CPPC) in accordance with the guidelines laid down in the Scheme Booklet of CPAO.
This means that City Union Bank can now process and disburse pensions to Central Government pensioners through its network of branches.
Additional Banking Option for Pensioners
The order also requests all Principal Chief Controllers of Accounts (Pr. CCAs), Chief Controllers of Accounts (CCAs), and Controllers of Accounts (CAs) to give adequate publicity to the development.
Retiring employees who wish to open their pension accounts with City Union Bank can now opt to do so and avail the bank’s pension disbursement services.
