CPAO WRPS Portal: Complete Guide for Central Government Pensioners

Login, download pension slips, track PPO status & resolve issues — without visiting any office.

For many Central Government pensioners, tracking pension revisions, obtaining PPO details, or verifying monthly payments traditionally meant visiting banks or government offices — often requiring multiple follow-ups for even simple queries.

Many Central Government pensioners search for ways to download pension slips, track pension revision status, or verify PPO details online — WRPS addresses these needs through a single portal.

To address this, the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) introduced the Web Responsive Pensioners’ Service (WRPS) — a digital platform providing real-time access to pension records, case status, and payment details from anywhere. Today, WRPS is an important transparency tool that reduces dependency on banks and departments.

What is CPAO WRPS?

The WRPS portal is a mobile-friendly online platform designed to give Central Government pensioners access to pension-related data maintained by CPAO. It enables pensioners to monitor their pension status, download authorisations, and raise grievances — all without stepping into an office.

Full form: WRPS stands for Web Responsive Pensioners’ Service, operated by the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) under the Ministry of Finance.

Who Can Use the WRPS Portal?

WRPS is available to the following categories of pensioners:

Central Civil Pensioners under CCS Pension Rules
All India Service officers retiring from Central Govt
Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court & High Courts
Former Presidents and Vice Presidents
Former Members of Parliament
Freedom Fighters (SSS scheme)
Pensioners of Union Territories
Delhi Administration pensioners
⚠ Not Covered Under CPAO
  • Railways pensioners
  • Defence services pensioners
  • Department of Posts and Telecom pensioners
  • State Government pensioners
  • PSU employees

Key Services Available on WRPS

The portal offers several features that eliminate the need for physical follow-ups:

  • 📄
Digital Record of SSA: View and download Special Seal Authorities (SSA) for fresh and revised pension cases — official confirmation of pension authorisations sent to banks.
Note: SSA is the authorisation issued by CPAO to the bank confirming pension entitlement, whereas the pension slip is generated by the bank showing monthly payment details credited to your account.
  • 🔍
Pension Case Tracking: Track your pension case from PAO submission through CPAO processing to dispatch at the bank CPPC.
  • 💰
Pension Payment Details: View monthly payment information including basic pension, Dearness Relief, medical allowance, and arrears credited.
  • 🪪
PPO & Profile Details: Access pensioner profile data linked with PPO records maintained by CPAO.
  • 📣
Online Grievance Monitoring: Lodge and track grievances with CPAO without any written correspondence.
  • 📱
SMS Alerts: Automated alerts for key milestones — receipt, dispatch, and grievance disposal.

How to Register and Login to WRPS

A one-time registration is required. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the CPAO website at cpao.nic.in
  2. Open the Pensioner’s Service (WRPS) link on the homepage
  3. Click on New Registration
  4. Enter your 12-digit PPO number and bank account number (pension account)
  5. Provide your date of birth and date of retirement (or date of death for family pension)
  6. Create your login credentials (username and password)
  7. Complete OTP verification and log in to access your dashboard
After registration, the portal is accessible via both desktop and mobile browsers. No app installation is required for basic access.

Most Common Uses of WRPS

Task What You Can Do
Check Pension Revision Status Track whether revision authorities have been issued and dispatched to the bank
Download SSA / Pension Authorisation Get digital copies confirming revised pension rates and arrear eligibility
View PPO and Personal Details Verify PPO data recorded with CPAO
Monitor Monthly Pension Credits Cross-verify amounts credited by the bank against CPAO records

Tracking Pension Case Status Through WRPS

Before PPO Allotment

Retiring employees can track cases using their PAN number and date of retirement — even before a PPO is assigned.

After PPO Allotment

Once the PPO is generated, the case can be tracked across three stages:

1
Receipt at CPAO
2
Processing within CPAO
3
Dispatch to Bank CPPC

This visibility helps pensioners understand delays and follow up with the right authority at the right time.

Viewing Pension Payment History and Arrears

WRPS displays pension payments reported by banks through scroll data. Pensioners can verify pension amounts credited, check arrears payments, and confirm Dearness Relief updates. Typically, payment history spanning multiple months is available for review.

Note: WRPS reflects data reported by banks and CPAO; minor delays between bank credit and portal update may occur.

CPAO also offers the Dirghayu mobile application for convenient pension information access on smartphones.

  • OTP-based registration and secure login
  • Bilingual interface — Hindi and English
  • View pension profile and transactions
  • Download SSA documents on the go
  • Read-only mode ensuring data safety

The app provides quick access to information but does not permit modification of records.

Common WRPS Issues and How to Resolve Them

While WRPS is a practical tool, pensioners sometimes encounter difficulties. Here are the most frequently asked questions and solutions:

Ensure the mobile number linked with your PPO is active and has network coverage. OTPs may sometimes be delayed due to network congestion — retry after a few minutes. If the number is outdated or changed, contact your bank or PAO to get it updated in the pension records before attempting registration again.
Confirm you are entering the correct 12-digit PPO number in the right format. For pre-1990 cases, use CPAO’s dedicated facility to find the new PPO number. If the issue persists, contact your Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) for verification of the PPO linked to your pension account.
Pension slips and SSA documents may not yet be uploaded if the revision order has recently been issued. Check back after a few days and verify the revision authority dispatch status on the portal. If there is still no update after a reasonable period, lodge a grievance through WRPS.
Banks typically update pension payments first, after which WRPS reflects the revised data. This lag is normal. Track the SSA dispatch status to the bank CPPC on the portal. If the delay is prolonged and your bank has credited the revised amount but WRPS still shows old data, lodge a grievance for follow-up.
Use the password reset facility on the login page, ensuring you enter the correct PPO number and date of birth combination. If the portal is not loading correctly, try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or use a different browser. If the issue persists, contact the CPAO helpline at 1800-11-77-88.
Yes. Family pensioners can register on WRPS by entering the date of death of the original pensioner (instead of date of retirement) along with the PPO number and bank account number at the time of registration.

Grievance Redressal and Help Channels

If issues remain unresolved through the portal, CPAO provides multiple support channels. Online grievances submitted through WRPS are forwarded to the concerned bank or field office for resolution.
