Provision of domestic PNG connections in residential units belonging to Railways: Railway Board Order dated 09.02.2023

Sub:- Provision of domestic PNG connections in residential units belonging to Railways.
Ref:- Northern Railway’s letter No. 196-W/3313/Land dated 20.12.2022.
Railway Board had permitted NR & WR proposal for laying of PNG pipeline to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGGL) and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) respectively in railway colonies for the use of residence of railway employees.
Now, a reference has been received from Northern Railway seeking clarifications on the examination of a similar proposal received from gas agencies other than IGL.
In this regard it is informed that the proposals for providing domestic PNG connections in residential colonies by the agencies approved by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas may be considered on merit. Being a welfare measure, no way leave charges for laying PNG gas pipelines 1n railway colonies for providing PNG facilities to railway beneficiaries are to be levied. Further, the model adopted by WR with the approval of Railway Board (copy enclosed) may be adopted by all zonal railways and Production units for dealing with such cases with the concurrence of FA&CAO and approval of General Manager.
