Sub: Clarification regarding payment of Hostel Subsidy for the academic years ending March-2020 & March-2021.
Ref: (i) SCR’s letter Nos. P(R)/249/4 dated 31.03.2023 & 18.07.2022.
(ii) ECoR’s letter Nos. ECoR /Pers/Bills (NG)/Hostel Subsidy dated 20.01 2023, 22.08.2022 & 26.04.2022.
The issue raised regarding payment of Hostel Subsidy vide above referred letters has been examined. In this context, it has been decided with the approval of Competent Authority that eligible Hostel Subsidy for the academic years ending March-2020 and March-2021 should be paid, subject to submission of following documents :-
(i) A Certificate from the Head of the Institution confirming that the child studied in the School also mentioning the actual amount paid to the School as boarding and lodging charges i.e. after subsequent adjustments for the period of closure of Hostel during the Covid period, if any.
(ii) The original Fee Receipt/E-receipt for the said expenditure incurred by the Govt. servant, for the relevant period.
2. The Railways are advised to take necessary action to settle the claims accordingly. Claims already settled, however, need not be reopened.
3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
