CGHS Wellness Centres to Remain Open from August 27 to 31, 2026; Directorate Calls Viral Closure Notice Fake

CGHS Wellness Centres to Remain Open Aug 27-31, 2026

CGHS has clarified that its Wellness Centres will function as per their normal working schedule from August 27 to 31, 2026, dismissing a circulated notice claiming closure during the period as false and unauthorised.

The Directorate General of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has issued a clarification regarding the circulation of a false notice claiming that CGHS Wellness Centres would remain closed from August 27 to 31, 2026.

According to the official circular dated August 22, 2026, an unauthorised notice carrying the name and logo of CGHS has been circulated, stating that Wellness Centres would be closed during these five days due to the deployment of Medical Officers for NEET-PG examination duty.

CGHS Wellness Centres will function normally

The Directorate has categorically stated that the circulated notice was neither issued nor authorised by the Directorate of CGHS and that its contents are false.

CGHS Wellness Centres will therefore continue to function from August 27 to 31, 2026, according to their prescribed working schedules.

The Directorate has further clarified that any deployment of CGHS personnel for official duties will be managed through appropriate administrative arrangements so that there is no disruption of healthcare services to CGHS beneficiaries.

Additional Directors directed to ensure continuity of services

The Directorate has instructed all Additional Directors, CGHS, to ensure that the clarification is communicated to all Wellness Centres and beneficiaries under their jurisdiction.

They have also been directed to make the necessary staffing and duty arrangements to ensure continuity of services. Further, the unauthorised notice should not be displayed or circulated by any CGHS office or official.

Beneficiaries advised to verify information through official channels

CGHS beneficiaries and members of the public have been advised to disregard the false notice and verify information relating to CGHS only through official sources.

The Directorate has specifically identified the following channels for verification:

  • Official CGHS website
  • myCGHS 2.0 application
  • Concerned CGHS authorities

The Directorate has also stated that the unauthorised use of the CGHS name and logo is being viewed seriously. Information regarding the source or circulation of the false notice may be reported to the Directorate for appropriate action.

What CGHS beneficiaries need to know

There is no CGHS-wide closure of Wellness Centres from August 27 to 31, 2026 on account of NEET-PG examination duty. Beneficiaries can continue to visit their respective Wellness Centres according to the applicable working schedule.

The clarification has been issued by Dr. Satheesh Y.H., Director, CGHS, and has been circulated to Additional Directors and Officers-in-Charge of CGHS Wellness Centres for immediate dissemination.

In short: The notice claiming that CGHS Wellness Centres will remain closed from August 27 to 31, 2026, is fake. CGHS Wellness Centres will continue to provide services as per their prescribed working schedules.
