Chairman & CEO
Railway Board, New Delhi
Respected Madam,
Sub: Closure of Railway printing presses. – Appeal to review the decision.
1) We once again plead for review of decision for closure of Railway Printing Presses.
2) Indian Railway Printing Presses ensure uninterrupted supply of documents & formats required for operation, commercial, mechanical, engineering, S&T, medical, general purposes, etc. Many of the documents printed in Railway Presses carry high financial value and privatization may lead to financial leakage.
3) It is pertinent to note that, most of the private suppliers fail to supply the printed materials as per schedule and quality of supplies are also not to the standards of Railway Presses.
4) At present Indian Railways is having five Printing Presses with well stablished infrastructure and skilled man power. Even after massive digitalisation, there are certain works require to be carried through Printing Press.
5) Closure of all Printing Presses and entire dependency on private suppliers will put Railways in a vulnerable situation. There is no backup plan in case of emergencies, failure of private suppliers, wilful act to damage or stop supply system.
6) Entire dependency on private suppliers will lead to unprecedented increase in cost of purchase and inventory.
7) It is therefore, earnestly requested not to close the Printing Press and continue to utilize the existing infrastructure and man power efficiently in overall interest of Indian Railways.
Thank you in anticipation
