J&K Finance Department Issues Circular on Pensioners’/Family Pensioners’ Verification
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has released a new circular detailing the modalities for verifying pensioners and family pensioners residing outside the state, including those abroad. This process, which aims to streamline verification for pensioners, ensures they continue receiving their pensions without needing to appear in person.
Key Details of the Circular
Issued by the Finance Department and referencing several circulars (JKB/UTLBC/2023/847, dated 26.12.2023, and others), this notice outlines the procedure for pension verification for the financial year 2024-25. The circular addresses concerns from pensioners receiving payments via J&K Bank branches or government treasuries, who have expressed difficulties in complying with in-person verification due to their remote locations.
Verification Steps for Pensioners Outside J&K
To minimize inconvenience, the Finance Department has established a step-by-step procedure for verification, as follows:
Step 1: Submit Personal Information via Email
Pensioners are required to email their details to the Provincial Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries based on their region:
- For Kashmir Division: [email protected]
- For Jammu Division: [email protected]
The information needed includes:
- Name of the Pensioner/Family Pensioner
- PPO Number
- Bank Branch/Treasury details
- Account Number
- Contact details (Mobile, Landline, and Email)
- Current and Permanent Address
- Date from which they have been residing outside J&K or abroad
Step 2: Data Forwarding
Upon receiving the details, the Director, Accounts & Treasuries will forward them to the respective Treasury Officers on the same day.
Step 3: Scheduling Virtual Verification
A Treasury Officer will contact the pensioner to schedule a virtual verification session via video call. A confirmation email or message with the date, time, and platform will follow.
Step 4: Conducting Virtual Verification
During the virtual session, the Treasury Officer will verify the pensioner’s identity through relevant questions.
Step 5: Document Submission
After successful verification, pensioners must electronically submit the following:
- PDF of PPO, if available
- Geo-tagged Photograph
- Proof of residence, like utility bills
- Copy of PAN Card
- Aadhar Card (optional)
If the pensioner fails to participate in this process, reminders will be sent via SMS/WhatsApp/email. Ignoring these reminders could result in the temporary cessation of pension.
Further Instructions and Compliance
The circular mandates immediate compliance from all Treasury Officers. It has been widely circulated for maximum outreach, ensuring that pensioners stay informed and can avoid service disruption. For further inquiries, pensioners can contact the relevant divisions as per the circular’s instructions.
