Issue of Pensioner CGHS Card before retirement.

Good News for Pensioners and who are just about to retire in the coming months !!!

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has considered the requests from retired Govt. Servants and those are due for retirement shortly, for simplification of procedure for obtaining Pensioner CGHS Cards.

Now, the Ministry has issued simplified guidelines for obtaining Pensioner CGHS Cards.  As per the guidelines, Officers desirous of having  CGHS facility after retirement, shall fill up and submit the application form  alongwith the requisite fee, photos of family members etc. 3 months prior to date of retirement.  The Ministry/Department concerned should, after verification  forward the application to the concerned CGHS in the city atleast six weeks before retirement of Officers.  The Pensioner CGHS Card will be issued on the date of retirement.

  1. I retired from service in October 1996 and I did not have CGHS card at that time since the Vellore district was not having the facility. After retirement, CGHS refused the facility as I was not a CGHS beneficiary prior to retirement. Now, what is the way out for persons like me?
