PARA MILITARY PERSONNEL UNDER NPS

2342. SHRI ASADUDDIN OWAISI:
SHRI SYED IMTIAZ JALEEL: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that personnel of armed police force like BSF and CRPF are not eligible for disability compensation after 01.01.2004 when the National Pension Scheme (NPS) was launched;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the benefits of disability being given to such personnel;

(c) whether the Government has decided to extend disability compensation to all the employees disabled in the line of duty and are retained after such disability; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the manner in which para military personnel who are more prone to disablement are likely to be benefited?

(a) to (d): As per the extant instructions issued on 01.01.2021, if a Government employee appointed on or after 01.01.2004 and covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS) is disabled, he shall also be eligible to receive a lump sum compensation computed in terms of Rule 9(3) of Central Civil Service (Extra-ordinary Pension) Rules, if the disablement is attributable to Government service and the Government employee is retained in service inspite of such disablement. The said benefit has been extended with effect from 01.01.2004.
