8th Pay Commission Announces Fresh Interaction Schedule: Meetings in Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry

The Eighth Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) has announced a fresh round of interactions with Associations, Federations and Unions representing Central Government and Union Territory employees, with meetings scheduled in Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry during August and September 2026.

The Commission has issued separate notices for interactions in Delhi on 7 and 10 August 2026, its visit to Chennai on 7 and 8 September 2026, and its visit to Puducherry on 9 September 2026.

Eligible employee organisations interested in meeting the Commission have been asked to seek appointments through the mechanism provided by the 8th CPC. The deadline for Delhi interactions is 31 July 2026, while organisations seeking meetings during the Chennai and Puducherry visits have time until 18 August 2026.

The latest announcements indicate that the Commission is continuing its stakeholder consultation exercise across the country as part of the process leading to its recommendations.

Delhi Interactions on August 7 and 10

The 8th Central Pay Commission has scheduled another round of interactions in Delhi on 7 August and 10 August 2026.

The Delhi exercise is intended for eligible Associations, Federations and Unions representing Central Government and Union Territory employees and located or registered in Delhi.

Organisations seeking an appointment are required to submit their requests by 31 July 2026.

The Commission has stipulated that organisations seeking an interaction should have already submitted their memorandum to the 8th CPC. The Memo ID generated in connection with the memorandum submission is required while seeking the appointment.

Organisations that have already interacted with the Commission during an earlier meeting in Delhi or during its visits to States and Union Territories are not expected to seek another interaction under this round.

Associations and Unions located outside Delhi have been advised to seek appointments when the Commission visits their respective State/UT or a nearby State/UT.

The venue and timing of meetings for organisations selected for interaction are expected to be communicated separately.

8th Pay Commission to Visit Chennai on September 7 and 8

The Commission has also announced a two-day visit to Chennai on 7 and 8 September 2026.

The visit will provide an opportunity for eligible Associations, Federations and Unions to interact with the Commission and present issues concerning the employees they represent.

Organisations interested in seeking an appointment during the Chennai visit have been given time until 18 August 2026 to submit their requests.

The Chennai meetings form part of the Commission’s wider programme of consultations with employee organisations and other stakeholders across different States and Union Territories.

Puducherry Visit Scheduled for September 9

Immediately following its Chennai programme, the 8th Central Pay Commission is scheduled to visit Puducherry on 9 September 2026.

Eligible employee Associations, Federations and Unions seeking an interaction with the Commission during the Puducherry visit must submit their appointment requests by 18 August 2026.

The Puducherry programme therefore follows directly after the Commission’s two-day Chennai visit, creating a three-day consultation schedule in the region from 7 to 9 September 2026.

Appointment Requests Through 8th CPC Portal

The 8th CPC has made separate appointment links available for the Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry interactions through its official website.

Employee organisations intending to participate should carefully check the applicable eligibility requirements and complete the appointment request within the prescribed deadline.

Where submission of a memorandum is a prerequisite, organisations should keep their Memo ID available while completing the appointment process.

Submission of a request for an appointment should also not be treated as automatic confirmation of a meeting. The Commission will communicate further details regarding the interaction to the organisations concerned.

Consultation Process Continues

The latest schedule is significant as the Eighth Central Pay Commission continues direct consultations with employee organisations alongside its examination of memoranda, representations and data received from various stakeholders.

The Commission has already undertaken interactions and visits at several locations, and further consultations are expected as its work progresses.

For Central Government employees and pensioners, these interactions are particularly important because recognised Associations, Federations and Unions use such meetings to place service-related concerns and proposals before the Commission.

Issues raised before the 8th CPC through memoranda and consultations are expected to form part of the broader material examined by the Commission while formulating its recommendations.
