Protesting ex-servicemen tonight suspended their 320-day-old agitation for complete implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) as senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani assured them of leading their legal battle in the apex court.

Financial implications on account of grant of OROP including Pre-Matured Retirees (PMR) cases would be Rs. 10925.11 crore for payment of arrears and annual financial implication would be Rs. 7488.7 crore
Defence Accounts Department which is closely associated with the OROP scheme initiate dialogue with Banks for speedy disbursal of Pension.
The following questions arises from the recommendations of the 7th pay commission in relation to pensions of pre 01 January 2016 retirees of the defence services.
“We are 29.7 per cent of all central government employees, as are the Railways. They have a member on the Committee but we don’t. The IPS, with strength of only 4,675 officers, has a member,” a senior military officer said.

The Defence Ministry on Monday said it had disbursed revised benefits to 2,21,224 pensioners under the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.
One Rank One Pension modalities have been promulgated vide PCDA (Pensions) , Allahabad circular no 555 dated 04 Feb 16. Veterans may confirm with their PDAs that their respective PPOs are complete in all respects. In case any data is incomplete, the same may be informed to Naval Pension Office
Government has received representations from various Ex-Servicemen Associations and beneficiaries regarding anomalies and their dissatisfaction with the order of OROP scheme. One member Judicial Committee has been appointed on 14.12.2015 to look into the anomalies arising out of implementation of OROP.
