The Income Tax department has launched its official handle on micro-blogging website Twitter.
The handle “incometaxindia_” is aimed to keep taxpayers and other users updated about the activities of the department.
“Follow us to stay updated on the latest taxpayer services,” the first tweet by the department said.
It added users can “Get access to online taxpayer services such as filing income tax return, pay taxes, view tax credit, etc. at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
“Get all details related to the Income Tax Dept, its organisational setup, functions, tax law and rules, etc. at http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in,” it said.
The I-T department functions under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the overall command of the Union Finance Ministry.
While the Ministry is itself active on this social media platform, its other departments like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have already launched their official handles.
