Subsidy for meal revised for running staff in Railways – Subsidy fixed at Rs.41 per meal or 90% of the cost of the meal
Subsidized Meal – Railway Board has issued letter to all GMs of Indian Railways to revise the subsidy for a meal to Rs.41 per meal or 90% of the cost of the meal, whichever is less.

REF: Board’s letters of even no. dated 07.03.2007, 24.02.2010 & 31.03.2010.
Policy guidelines for provision of subsidized meal/ food to the running staff in the running rooms were issued vide Board’s letters referred above. Keeping in view the escalation in prices of food items taken place in the recent past, it is decided to revise the subsidy for a meal to Rs.41 per meal or 90% of the cost of the meal, whichever is less.
Further, the Zonal Railways are advised to revise the rate of subsidized meal every 3 month by taking into consideration of CPI (IVV) of June and December.
This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Dte. of Ministry of Railways.
