Kendriya Vidyalayas – Five Days a week working Pattern
Five day a week schooling pattern in Kendriya Vidyalayas
Recently, it was queried in the Rajya Sabha as to whether 5 days a week working days pattern would be followed in Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools.
In respect of this query, it was replied by Minister of State for Human Resource Ministry Dr.Shashi Tharoor that there is no such proposal as such to change the number of working days per week pattern in repsect of Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools to five.
The extract of the Rajya Sabha query and answer by the Minister are as follows.
Question: (a) whether it is a fact that Kendriya Vidyalayas are considering to make schooling five day a week affair for its students; (b) if so, the details thereof;
Answer : (a) & (b) Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) considered this matter in its Academic Advisory Committee on 19th May 2011. However, the Committee has not approved the proposal.
and
Ans: (c) No, Sir.
Ans: (d) Does not arise.
Question (c) and whether it is also a fact that Government is considering to ask all the schools to follow this pattern so that the students can have time to pursue self learning and follow their passion and indulge in non-academic activities; (d) if so, the details thereof?
Ans: Does not arise.
