MISUSE OF ID PROOFS OF ARMY PERSONNEL

Will the Minister of Defence be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government is aware that unscrupulous elements were found with copies of identity (ID) proofs of army men for duping people;
(b) whether it is also a fact that cyber cheats secure data of army personnel, including taking their identity proofs in different ways, like offering cheap mobile SIM; and
(c) the steps being taken to create awareness among army personnel to ensure that these identity proofs are not used to dupe common people on online selling sites?

IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a): Yes, Sir.
(b): Yes, Sir. The likely sources of leakage of ID Proofs are at securing bank loans, new SIMs (Employment Proofs).
(c): (i) Army Personnel are regularly sensitized by concerned higher authorities and through Sainik Sammelan / Briefings/ Interaction to cautiously use their ID proofs, so that the same does not get misused;
(ii) The Canteen Stores Department Cards which are reportedly misused are blocked;
(iii) Action is taken against complaints and disciplinary action is initiated against defaulters for sharing ID card on online platforms.
