Arrears of Pension of Pre-2006 pensioners who have received pension arrears with effect from 24.09.2012 would be processed in the first place as their revised pension particulars are available already . They can expect payment of arrears within a week in their bank accounts

Pension of Pre-2006 pensioners was revised with effect from 24.09.2012 as per Department of Pension OM dated 28.01.2013 based on revised concordance table. Later this revision of pension was given effect from 1st January 2006 as per OM dated 30.07.2015. CPAO now instructs that revision of pension in the cases change rate of pension involves due to various reasons are to be correctly calculated and arrears be paid correctly

On a broader note, it is estimated that retired military officers will get a pension hike ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 22,000 per month, while jawans and junior commissioned officers will get OROP benefit of around Rs 2,200 to Rs 9,000.

As per Census 2011, five cities have crossed the population benchmark for higher Transport Allowance. The lowest-ranking retired jawans, widows and the disabled are likely to accrue the maximum benefit from the announcement. Widows and ex-servicemen over 70 are likely to be paid first. With the current proposal, jawans will get a pension hike of at least 3,500 to 4,500 a month
While widows will get arrears in lump-sum, others will be paid in four half-yearly installments. Army personnel who have taken voluntary retirement will not be covered under OROP.
