25 % rise in advances on DA crossing 50%

The Controller General of Defence Accounts, New Delhi, has referred to the question of increase in quantum of various advances (viz. Bi-Cycle Advance, Warm Clothing Advance, Festival Advance and Natural Calamity Advance) admissible to the Government servants (namely DAD personnel) on implementation of Sixth CPC recommendations In relation to increase of Dearness Allowance by 50%. The CG (DA) has reitered Para 4 of Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, OM No.12(1)/E.II(A)/2008 dated 7.10.2008 which stipulates that the rates of these advances shall be automatically increased by 25% every time the dearness allowance payable on revised pay bands increases by 50%.

Validity of 2nd class passes in Garibh Rath trains

The Ministry of Railways has considered the requests for permitting 2nd Class pass for travel in Garib Rath Express Trains. The Ministry has decided to accept the demand and decided that “serving / retired railway servants / individuals may also be allowed to travel in Garib Rath Exp. trains on “2nd / Sleeper Class Pass” issued under Railway Servants (Pass) Rules,1986 (Second Edition 1993) on payment of difference of fare between the class of actual travel of Garib Rath Exp. trains and the Sleeper class of Express trains for the distance travelled.”

Rates chargeable by Holiday Home/Guest House etc.

If you are using the faciities available through Estates.nic.in, that is, Holiday Home, Guest House, Touring Officer’s Hostel etc., there is a new rule that you need to take note of. It has been decided that if only one Room or suit is booked where the Govt. servant AND his Guest/relatives stay, then the rates applicable to Govt. servant is to be paid. However, if the booking is made exclusively for the stay of friends/guests then the rates applicable under head “private persons accompanying as guest of MP/Government Employee.

Saharanpur is “Y” class city for HRA for Rail employees

The Department of Expenditure (Ministry of Finance) has already notified that Saharanpur city (within its Municipal limits) shall stand re-classified as “Y” class city for the purpose of grant of House Rent Allowance to the Central Government employees posted there. These orders shall be effective from 1st June, 2011. This Notification was issued by Ministry of Finance, consequent to the Government of Uttar Pradesh Notification No.2176/9-7-09-53J/1998 dated 01.10.2009 which reconstituted the area of Saharanpur (M.B.) by adding certain areas within its Municipal limits and renamed it as Saharanpur Municipal Corporation.

4200 Grade Pay to Grade D Stenos of CSSS.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), vide their O.M. dated 22nd June, 2011 created a new grade of Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (NFSG) in grade pay of Rs.4200/- in Pay Band-2 in CSSS Cadre with the condition that the total number in the grade will be restricted to 30% of the sanctioned strength. Now, the DOPT has decided to grant the NFSG benefits to Stenographers Grade D who has already completed the approved service of 5 years.
