New Delhi, dated 19.07.2022
The General Manager (P) AE
All Indian Railways & PUs
Sub: Exemption from Speed Test in Stenography @100 w.p.m. for promotion from Stenographer Grade III to Stenographer Grade I in Level-6 who have already acquired higher speed @120 w.p.m.
Ref.: Board’s letter No. E(NG)I-2018/PM4/4 dated 13.02.20219 addressed to GM(P)/N.F. Railway.
One of the Railways had sought clarification whether Stenographers, who have already cleared the speed test @ 100 w.p.m or higher speed, for advance increment, may be exempted to appear in the shorthand test at the time of their promotion 😮 Stenographer Grade 1.
The matter was considered by the Board and the position was clarified to the railway as under:-
“Stenographer Gr. III, who have cleared Shorthand Test @ 100 w.p.m or above either at entry level or for advance increments, need not be subjected to the Shorthand Test @,100 w. p.m at the time of their promotion to Stenographer Gr. I”.
The above clarification would be equally applicable to all Zonal Railways/PUs.
