Amendment to Pension Rules-benefits to pensioners

The Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare, New Delhi, has notified the various amendments to CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972.

The proposed amendments to the rules bring changes to the quantum of minimum pension, method of calculation of “emoluments”, sanction of additional pension to pensioners crossing the age of 85 years onwards, admissibility of family pension to the family members of deceased pensioners in various categories including  childless widow after remarriage, unmarried/widowed/divorced daughter,  unmarried son, mentally disordered/disabled family members, etc.

These amendments would bring in welcome improvement to the benefits available to pensioners.

  1. On completing 20 years of service, an employee will get full pension any way, but what about gratuity. He will get only the proportionate gratuity for the service rendered by him. Also , earlier an employee having 28 years of service and 5 years remaining service opts for voluntary retirement, he was getting full pension as well as full gratuity. But now, the weightage condition removed, he will get only 28 years of gratuity, that means 2.5 times emoluments he is loosing. A benefit already enjoyed by the employees withdrawn in the new pension rules just like in MACP scheme, even though 3 upgradations have been granted, a number of employees are not getting even the benefit of erstwhile ACP scheme.
