Hunger Strike called for by Railway Employee Unions – Railway Employees will be on hunger strike on 9th October 2012

Railway employee unions has decided to launch a country-wide 24-hour hunger strike tomorrow to demand better package for railway employees and scrapping of new pension scheme.

More than a lakh railway employees including trackmen, running staff and technicians will join the mass hunger strike on October 9 for the fulfillment of their genuine demands.

The demands include better package for trackman, upgradation technician’s grade, improvement of pay scales of running staff and clearance of arrears, among others.  The poster for Mass Hunger Strike issued by AIRF are reproduced below:-

MAIN DEMANDS

  1. ABOLISH NEW PENSION SCHEME AND RESTORE PREVIOUS PENSION SCHEME
  2. IMPLEMENT UNANIMOUS RECOMMENDATIONS DATED 28.6.2011 OF JOINT COMMITTEE ON TRACK-MEN PACKAGE ON LETTER AND SPIRIT.
  3. IMPLEMENT CADRE RESTRUCTURING WITHOUT INSISTING ON MATCHING SURRENDER.
  4. FILL UP ALL VACANCIES AND IMPLEMENT LARSGESS ON PATTERN OF COMPASSIONATE GROUND APPOINTMENT.
  5. APPOINT WARDS OF RAILWAY EMPLOYEES AS SUBSTITUTES ON RAILWAYS.
  6. STOP & ABOLISH OUTSOURCING AND CONTRACTORIZATION OF PERENNIAL NATURE RAILWAY WORKERS AND /APPOINT PERMANENT EMPLOYEES FOR THE SAME.
  7. ARRANGE PAYMENT OF ARREARS OF RUNNING ALLOWANCE TO RUNNING STAFF W.E.F. 1.1.2006.
  8. ABOLISH CEILING ON PLB AND ARRANGE PAYMENT EQUIVALENT TO ACTUAL NUMBER OF WORKING DAYS.
  9. IMPROVE WORKING CONDITIONS AND RUNNING ALLOWANCE/ALK RATES FOR LOCO AND TRAFFIC RUNNING STAFF.
  10. ARRANGE JUDICIOUS AND RATIONAL HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR RUNNING STAFF AND OTHER SAFETY CATEGORY STAFF.
  11. IMPROVE DEPLORABLE CONDITION OF RAILWAY COLONIES, GANG-HUTS, RUNNING ROOMS, TTE REST HOUSES, SUBORDINATE REST HOUSES, CONTROL OFFICES AND COLONEY ROADS.
  12. FILL UP VACANCIES OF RAILWAY DOCTORS, PARAMEDICAL STAFF IN RAILWAY HOSPITALS AND ARRANGE PROPER MEDICINES TO PATIENTS.
  13. PROVIDE BASIC AMENITIES FOR WOMEN RAILWAY EMPLOYEES AND ARRANGE CRECHE IN OFFICES.
  14. APPOINT APPRENTICES IN ENGINEERING, S&T, ELECTRIC AND MECHANICAL DEPTT. OF RAILWAYS IN OPEN LINE ALONG WITH WORKSHOPS & PRODUCTION UNITS.
  15. ABOLISH GP Rs.2000 IN MACP AND ISSUE ORDERS FOR MERGER OF POSTS OF TECHNICIAN GP Rs. 2400 AND GP Rs. 2800.
  16. REMOVE ANOMALIES OF 6TH PAY COMMISSION.
  17. ALLOT GP Rs. 4800 FOR SENIOR SUPERVISORS OF ALL DEPARTMENTS AND ARRANGE FIXED QUOTA FOR PROMOTIONS IN GROUP “B”.
