UPSC Recruitment 2015 – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued an Employment Notification for the Recruitment of Geologist, Chemist, Geophysicist, Junior Hydrogeologist Posts, for filling of 269 vacancies.

To fill up these vacancies, Online Applications are invited from the interested and eligible Candidates for the UPSC Recruitment 2015 in the prescribed format through online mode from 21.02.2015 to 20.03.2015 till 11.59 pm.

Vacancy Details – UPSC Recruitment 2015 :

Total No. of Post : 628 Vacancies

Name of the Post :

  1. Category I: 240 posts
    • Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines:
      i. Geologist, Group A: 150 posts
      ii. Geophysicist, Group A: 40 posts
      iii. Chemist, Group A: 50 posts
  2. Category II: 29 posts
    • Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources:
      i. Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group A: 29 posts

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Recruitment 2015 :

Age Limit :

  • Candidates age should be between 21 to 32 years for Category I posts & 21 to 35 years for Category II posts as on 01-01-2015. Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.

Educational Qualification :

  • Candidates should possess Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology for Category I (S.No.i) post, M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics for Category I (S.No.ii) post, M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry for Category I (S.No.iii) post, Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology for Category II (S.No.i) post.

Selection Process :

  • Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologist Exam Selection Process Details are given below…
  • UPSC Selection Procedure consists of two Parts.
    1) Written Examination
    2) Interview/ Personality Test

1) Written Examination :

i. Geologists written exam consists of 4 papers General English, Geology Paper-I, II & III
ii. Geophysicists Exam consists of General English, Geophysicist Paper-I, II & III
iii. Chemist Exam consists of General English, Chemistry Paper-I, II & III
iv. Jr Hydrogeologist Exam consists of Geology paper I & II, Hydrogeology.
v. Maximum Marks 100 for General English & 200 for remaining all Papers.
vi. In this examination all the subjects will be of conventional (essay) type with English language question papers. Answers must be in English only.
vii. Candidates must write their papers own hand. The commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination.

2) Interview/Personality Test :

  • The Test carries 200 marks .The candidates, who perform well in written examination, are called for personality test. In Interview, The candidates will interview by a board of competent and unbaised observers who will have before them a record of his/ her career. The object of the interview is to assess his/ her suitability for the posts for which he/ she has competed. Special attention will be paid in the Personality Test to assessing the candidates capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application, integrity of character and aptitude for adapting themselves to the field life.

Application Fee :

  • Candidates have to pay Rs.200/- (No fee for SC/ ST/ PH/ Female candidates) in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of the SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using visa/ master credit/ debit card.

How to Apply :

  • The candidates those who are interested in applying for UPSC Recruitment 2015 are required to apply online through www.upsconline.nic.in from 21-02-2015 to 20-03-2015 by 11:59 PM.

Instructions to Apply Online :

1. Before applying online candidates have to scan the copies of photograph & signature.
2. Log on through the website www.upsconline.nic.in.
3. Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.
4. Click on “Part – I/ Part – II Registration”.
5. Read the Important Instructions & fill the form with all the relevant details & submit the application form.
6. After successful registration, a unique registration ID will be allotted, note down the ID & password.
7. Now fill the personal profile, contact details, age relaxation if applicable.
8. Now fill the details of qualification, experience.
9. Now fill the details of Professional Registration, Language, Miscellaneous Module.
10. Now candidate have to choose the Recruitment Test Centre.
11. Now candidates have to upload documents in Document Upload Module
12. After uploading photograph & signature preview the ORA form and check the details carefully.
13. Now click on the submit button
14. Candidates can Pay Online using the Internet banking facility in SBI or other associated banks or can pay through Visa/ Master Debit or Credit card issued by any Bank/ Institution.
15. Here the Transaction ID & Date of Registration details will directly uploaded automatically.
16. Now pay the fee through cash at any branch of State Bank of India through the Pay-in-Slip
17. A transaction ID will be given, again revisit the website and click on the “Click here to view your Previous/ Currently active applications”.
18. Log in by registration ID & password, candidates can see “My Active Application (My draft Application)” link.
19. Now fill the details of transaction ID and Date of Transaction if paid through cash.
20. Click “Continue”, check the details of fee and submit the application.
21. Now take the printout copies of application attach the attested copies of all documents and keep it for future use.

Important Dates :

  • Starting Date to Apply Online: 21-02-2015.
  • Last Date for Payment of Fee by Cash mode: 19-03-2015 by 23:59 Hrs.
  • Last Date to Apply Online: 20-03-2015 by 11:59 PM.
  • Last Date for Payment of Fee by Debit/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking payment mode: 20-03-2015.
  • Date of Examination: 23-05-2015.
