TNEA 2014 – How rank list is prepared based on XII marks
TNEA 2014 – Anna University is conducting Tamilnadu Engineering Admission 2014. TNEA2014 is a process of allotting Engineering seats to 1,50,000 students in around 500 Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu through single window system. The details of Allocation of Seats based on ranking of candidates on the basis of the XII marks are given below :
TNEA 2014 – Mode of Selection
- ADMISSION TO GENERAL CATEGORY
The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100) in the qualifying examination.
- Normalisation of Marks and Inter-se Merit
If the highest mark secured by the student of State Board of Tamil Nadu in Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90 both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100. If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below.
100 x 60 / 90 = 66.66 %
After normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the
qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list.
- In the case of candidates who have qualified from National Boards such as CBSE, ISCE etc. the highest mark obtained in the relevant subject by the candidates at the National Level alone will be taken into consideration for normalisation.
TNEA 2014 – How Rank list will be prepared
For minimum eligibility, normalised marks will not be considered.
A merit list will be prepared based on the total mark of 200. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below.
(1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics, (2) Percentage of marks in Physics, (3) Percentage of marks in the Fourth optional subject, (4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) & (5) Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).
The overall rank and Communitywise rank lists will be published in Anna University website http://www.annauniv.edu/tnea2014. Separate announcement will not be given in Newspapers. The candidates will also be informed of their rank individually by post through the counselling Call Letter. The college and the branch will be provisionally allotted through counselling only.
Anna University is empowered to conduct TNEA 2014 and has already issued advertisements in leading news papers (Advertisement No.236/EA3/2014).
