UGC NET July 2018 Notification Released; Application Process To Start From March 3

UGC NET NOTIFICATION 2018: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification of UGC NET 2018 notification. According to the board, the submission of online application form will begin from March 5, 2018. The last date for applying online is April 5, 2018. Last date of submission of Fee through online generated Bank challan, at any branch of (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank) or through credit/debit card for UGC NET is April 6. CBSE will conduct UGC NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of Examination spread across the country. CBSE will conduct UGC NET examination on July 8, 2018. The online registration process will be held on the official website of the exam, cbsenet.nic.in.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) holds the National Eligibility Test (NET) on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC). Aadhaar Card is mandatory to apply for UGC NET. CBSE UGC NET determines the eligibility of Indian candidates for Assistant Professor or for Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor both. Junior Research Fellowship awardees will be eligible to pursue research in their postgraduate subject from IITs or other national organizations. Such candidates are also eligible for the post of Assistant professor in Indian colleges / Universities. For the year 2018, UGC NET exam will be conducted only one time in a year.

UGC NET July 2018 Important dates:

Beginning of online registration: March 5, 2018

Last date for applying online: April 5, 2018

Last date for submission of application fee: April 6, 2018

Correction in application form: April 25 to May 1, 2018

UGC NET Exam: July 8, 2018

Eligibility criteria:

Educational qualification: Candidates need to secure at least 55 per cent marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognised universities/institutions. There is five per cent relaxation for OBC, Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PwD) category and transgender candidates who have secured at least 50 per cent marks (without rounding off) in Masters degree or equivalent examination.

Those who are pursuing their Master’s (in the final year) can also apply. Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of mark.

Those who have Ph D degree and whose Masters level examination had been completed by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks.

Age limit:

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The candidate should not be over 30 years as on July 1, 2018. There is 5 years relaxation for the candidates belonging to OBC, SC/ST/PwD/ transgender categories and to women applicants.

UGC also provides relaxation to the candidates have research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years.

Three years relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing LLM degree.

Five years for those who have served armed forces subject to the length of service.

Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit.

Paper pattern:

There will be total 2 papers which will consist of objective type questions.

Paper 1

Total marks: 100

Total questions: 50 (all compulsory)

Duration: 1 hour (9:30 am to 10:30 am)

Each question will carry 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature and will test the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. A candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness will be tested.

Paper 2

Total marks: 200

Total questions: 100 (all compulsory)

Duration: 2 hours (11 am to 1 pm)

Each question will carry 2 marks and will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.

How to Apply UGC NET 2018?

  • Candidates wishing to apply for UGC NET 2018 have to fill the application form online only on the official website, cbsenet.nic.in.
  • The application form will be released from 5th March 2018.
  • No application will be accepted after the last date.
  • Aadhaar card is necessary to apply for UGC NET 2018.
  • The application process will consist of four steps viz. fill the application form, upload scanned photograph and signature, pay the examination fee and print confirmation page.
  • There is no need to send the printout of confirmation page to CBSE.
  • CBSE will also provide the correction facility in UGC NET application form 2018. The correction will be done from 25th April to 1st May 2018.

Application Fee:

The application fee of UGC NET 2018 varies category-wise. Application fee, once paid, is not refundable or transferable under any circumstances. Fee details are as follows:

Mode of Payment:

Application fee is payable through credit/ debit card or through e-challan. Candidates submitting the fee through e-challan have to make the payment in cash to Syndicate/Canara/ICICI bank.
