National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET Counselling Dates 2018, All India & State MBBS/BDS Admission Process

NEET counselling 2018 Dates has been released now. The counselling will be started from 12th June 2018. It will be conducted through online mode. The counselling is conducted every year by the MCC (Medical Council Committee).

NEET is the national level examination for admission to MBBS & BDS courses offered by various government and private medical colleges of India. The examination is organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). From 2016 onwards, AIPMT exam has been replaced by NEET examination. In this article, candidates can check the details of about NEET 2018 counselling, including procedure, schedule and counselling for 15% & 85% seats.

NEET Counselling 2018 – The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and various state counselling authorities will conduct the counselling of NEET 2018 after the declaration of the NEET 2018 result. Candidates will need to register separately with different counselling authorities for participating in the NEET 2018 counselling process. The responsibility of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be limited to conducting NEET 2018, declaring the result and providing the All India Ranks and marks of candidates to the various counselling authorities at national and state level.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), will conduct the NEET 2018 counselling for admissions to 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Government medical and dental colleges across all states (except J&K), 100% seats in Deemed and Central universities, seats reserved for Wards of Insured Persons (IP quota) in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges and seats at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. NEET counselling 2018 for the remaining 85% state quota seats (100% in case of J&K) in Government medical and dental colleges and seats in other private and self-financing institutions in all states will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities. Only those candidates who qualify NEET 2018 by scoring the minimum qualifying percentile will be called for counselling of NEET.

Candidates will need to score a minimum of 50th percentile (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for General – PH) in order to qualify NEET and become eligible for NEET 2018 counselling and admission. The counselling of NEET 2018 will be conducted by the DGHS for AIQ seats in two rounds and for Deemed and Central universities in three rounds. The first round of NEET 2018 counselling for AIQ and Deemed/Central universities will be tentatively conducted from June 12 to June 24, 2018, and the second round will be conducted from July 6 to July 12, 2018. The seats which will remain vacant after two rounds of NEET counselling 2018 for AIQ seats will be transferred to the respective state counselling authorities.

The DGHS will conduct a NEET 2018 mop up counselling round for Deemed and Central universities from August 12 to August 22, 2018, tentatively. Counselling for state quota seats will be conducted by the different state counselling authorities during this same period. NEET Counselling 2018 for 15% AIQ Seats

The DGHS, on behalf of the MCC, will conduct the counselling for admission to 15% AIQ seats in Government medical and dental colleges of India. All Government medical/dental colleges in India (except those in the state of Jammu & Kashmir) have surrendered 15% of their total MBBS/BDS seats for AIQ on which all candidates who qualify NEET 2018 are eligible to participate. AIQ counselling of NEET 2018 will be conducted in two rounds in online mode. The first round of AIQ counselling of NEET will be conducted from June 12 to June 24, 2018, and second AIQ counselling round will be conducted between July 6 to July 22, 2018.

From this year on, the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have joined other states in the provision of 15% of their MBBS/BDS seats of government medical/dental colleges through AIQ counselling conducted by MCC. All candidates (except those belonging to J&K, unless they filled the declaration form which appears at the time of filling NEET application form) who will qualify NEET 2018 by scoring minimum required percentile, will be eligible for AIQ admissions.

How to download Rank Letter for NEET 15% AIQ Counselling?

Only those candidates who qualify NEET 2018 and also apply for 15% AIQ seats at the time of filling NEET application form will be allotted the AIQ rank letter by CBSE. AIQ rank letters will reveal a candidate’s AIQ rank in NEET among all candidates who are eligible for NEET 2018 AIQ counselling. Candidates will be called for AIQ counselling rounds on the basis of their AIQ rank, as mentioned in NEET 2018 AIQ rank letter. NEET Counselling 2018 – AIQ Seat Matrix

Before the beginning of NEET 15% AIQ Counselling 2018, MCC will release college-wise seat matrix detailing seats available for admission under 15% AIQ in every Government medical/dental colleges across the country. The details of AIQ seat matrix will be published here as soon as it is released by MCC. Last year, approximately 3,521 MBBS seats in 159 medical colleges and 299 BDS seats in 24 dental colleges were available under 15% All India Quota. This number will increase this year with states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana joining AIQ admission process.

NEET AIQ Counselling Procedure

Counselling of NEET 2018 for AIQ seats will be conducted in two rounds in online mode. After the result of NEET is declared, interested candidates will be required to register themselves for participating in AIQ counselling of NEET, after downloading their NEET 2018 rank letters issued by CBSE. Given below is the AIQ counselling procedure:

  1. Candidate Registration: Candidates will be able to register for AIQ first round from June 12, 2018, in online mode. The link to register for AIQ counselling of NEET 2018 will be given below.
  2. Choice Filling and Locking (Round 1): After registration, candidates will have to choose the courses and colleges of their preference and finally lock-in their preferences in the online portal.
  3.  Seat Allotment Result (Round 1): The result of first round of AIQ seat allotment will be published online on the basis of available vacancies and candidate’s choices. Seat allotment result of AIQ first counselling round will also be made available here.
  4. Reporting to college against round one allotment: Candidates who will be allotted a seat in NEET AIQ first counselling round, they will be required to either reject the allotted seat or report to the allotted college and complete the admission formalities, before the last date of reporting to college. Candidates who choose to accept the allotted college in round one will also be eligible to participate in NEET 2018 AIQ counselling second round, provided they express their willingness for the same in the online portal.
  5. New Registration (Round 2): Before the second round of AIQ counselling of NEET 2018 begins, AIQ registration facility will be open for the candidates who couldn’t register in first round of AIQ counselling.
  6. Fresh Choice Filling and Locking (Round 2): Similar to AIQ counselling round one, candidates will be given a chance to enter new choices and prioritize their course and college preference in the portal. Finally candidates will be required to lock their preferences before the last day of locking preferences.
  7. Seat Allotment Result (Round 2): MCC will then publish the result of seat allotment of second round of AIQ counselling detailing the ranks admitted on AIQ seats and the colleges in which they got admission.
  8. Reporting to college against round two allotment: Candidates who will be allotted a seat in second round of 15% AIQ counselling will not be permitted to vacate their seats as per the orders of the Supreme court of India.

NEET Counselling 2018 – Documents Required

Candidates will need to bring following documents at the time of reporting to the college after AIQ counselling of NEET 2018.

  • NEET 2018 Admit Card
  • NEET 2018 Rank Letter or AIQ Rank Letter
  • Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet (for date of birth proof)
  • Class 12 Certificate and Marksheet
  • ID Proof
  • Eight passport size photographs
  • Provisional allotment letter generated online after allotment.
  • Community Certificate (if applicable).

NEET 2018 Counselling for Deemed and Central Universities

MCC, on behalf of DGHS will conduct the counselling for 100% MBBS seats in Deemed and Central universities across India. NEET counselling for Deemed and Central universities for 2018 will tentatively begin from June 14, 2018, in online mode. The counselling of NEET 2018 for Deemed and Central universities will be conducted in a total of three rounds, with first, second and mop up counselling rounds. The seats which will remain vacant after mop up round will be sent to respective colleges for final mop up rounds. To participate in NEET 2018 counselling for Deemed and Central universities, interested candidates who are declared qualified in NEET 2018 will be required to register themselves for counselling.

Seat Matrix of Deemed and Central Universities

MCC will release college-wise seat matrix of Deemed and Central universities before the beginning of NEET counselling 2018. The details seat matrix of Deemed and Central universities will be made available here as soon as it is released by MCC. 

Deemed and Central Universities Counselling Procedure

The counselling procedure of Deemed and Central universities will proceed same as NEET AIQ counselling mentioned above. The only change in the counselling procedure of Deemed and Central universities is that, instead of two rounds, three rounds are conducted by MCC for NEET counselling of Deemed and central universities, with first, second and mop up counselling rounds. Some important points about mop up counselling round are given below:

  • In mop up round, only those candidates who registered in second round of NEET counselling for Deemed and Central universities but were not allotted any seat will be allowed to participate.
  • Candidates who will be allotted a seat in second round, will not be eligible to vacate their seat and participate in the mop up round.
  • Also, those candidates who were allotted a seat in round one or two, but didn’t report/joined the allotted college will not be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

NEET 2018 Counselling for ESI College

MCC, on behalf of DGHS conducts the counselling for MBBS seats reserved for wards (son/daughter) of Insured Persons (IP) in ESI Colleges. NEET ESIC counselling will also be conducted in two rounds, after which the vacant seats will be transferred to respective colleges. Candidates will need to register for ESI counselling of NEET 2018 to participate in the counselling process. The seat matrix will also be released by MCC before the beginning of counselling process. Seats available for IP quota in ESI colleges will be made available here as soon as the seat matrix is released for this year.

Previous year, 332 MBBS and 22 BDS seats were available for wards of insured persons in ESI colleges run under ESI Scheme.

NEET State Counselling 2018

NEET 2018 counselling for remaining 85% State Quota seats (100% in case of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and J&K) in Government medical/dental colleges and 100% seats in self-financing and private colleges in the states will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities. After AIQ counselling of NEET gets completed, the counselling for all the states will start.

Every state will release its own counselling schedule for NEET 2018 state counselling. As per the orders of Supreme Court of India, every state will conduct a common Centralized counselling for MBBS/BDS admission in its state. Every state counselling authority will release its merit list on the basis of the NEET scores of candidates who register for the state counselling. NEET Cutoff 2018

Candidates appearing in NEET 2018 will need to score equal to the minimum required percentile in their respective categories to qualify the exam and become eligible for counselling of NEET conducted by the DGHS and state counselling authorities. NEET 2018 result will also reveal the cutoff score equivalent to NEET qualifying percentile and will also mention category-wise cutoff scores of AIQ.
