IIM CAT 2018: IIM Calcutta has released the official notification of CAT 2018 on July 29 for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 on its official website, the link for which is www.iimcat.ac.in.. CAT 2018 will be conducted on November 25 in two sessions. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the most competitive MBA entrance exam of India taken by around 2 lakh candidates every year. IIMs conduct CAT on a rotational basis every year for admission to 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India. Around 4,000 seats are offered through the 20 IIMs. CAT 2018 score card will be valid only for one year until December 31, 2019. The registration process for CAT 2018 will start from August 8 and will continue until September 19, 2018. The exam pattern this year will remain the same as last year.

Whats New in CAT 2018:

Five new exam cities have been added to list of 140 cities of last year. CAT 2018 will be conducted in 147 cities this year (2 new state added – Mizoram and Nagaland).

The application fee has also been increased to Rs. 1900 for General and NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 950 for SC, ST and PWD candidates. Earlier the CAT registration fee was Rs. 1800 and Rs. 900 respectively.

Selection procedure:

The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), followed by a Personal Interviews (PI) round.

CAT 2018: Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University or Institute
  • General and OBC-NC category candidates should obtain at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. For reserved category candidates, the minimum percentage to secure is 45
  • The duration of the graduation programme should be minimum 3 years
  • Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply for CAT 2018 provided they complete their programme within the stipulated schedule
  • Age Limit – There is no age limit for applying or appearing in CAT exam

CAT 2018 Registration:

The IIM CAT 2018 registration window opens on August 8, 2018 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on September 19, 2018. The IIM CAT 2018 registration details are available in the registration guide provided on the official website of the entrance examination. At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any four Test Cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one among the four preferred cities subject to availability.

In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/she will be allotted a nearby city. The candidates can download the admit cards from October 24, 2018 till November 25, 2018. For SC, ST and PwD category candidates the registration fee will be Rs. 950, while, for all other categories of candidates the fee will be Rs. 1900.

According to the CAT 2018 notification, a candidate needs to pay registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

How to fill CAT Application Form 2018?

In order to fill up the CAT 2018 application form, applicants have to login through their user ID and password and fill up the application form by entering the correct information. The CAT application form 2018 is divided into following categories or sections:

  • Selecting Test Centres and Interview Cities

After filling up information on each page, candidates have to click on Save & Next tab. Applicants have to upload their photograph and signature in the given dimension. The last step is to pay the application fee through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.

CAT 2018 Application Fees:

The application fee is Rs. 1900 for General category candidates and Rs. 950 for SC/ST/PWD category candidates.

The mode of application fee payment is through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.

IIM CAT 2018: Test Centres

IIM CAT 2018 will be conducted in centers spread across around 147 test cities. Test cities will be mentioned in CAT website and the name of the test centre will be indicated in the CAT Admit Card. According to the CAT notification, IIMs reserve the right to change or cancel any test centre / city and / or change the test time and date at their own discretion.

IIM CAT 2018: Score

Candidates’ CAT 2018 score card will be made accessible at the CAT website after the results declaration. Candidates may also be intimated individually by SMS about CAT scores. The CAT results are likely be declared by second week of January, 2019. CAT 2018 score is valid only till December 31, 2019 and will accordingly be accessible on the website. Thereafter, no queries related to issuance of CAT 2018 score cards will be entertained.
