GMAT is one of the most reliable entrance tests for quality business programs offered by eminent B-schools worldwide.This is a computer adaptive test which tends to evaluate one’s Critical Thinking, Analytical Writing Abilities, English Language Skills, and Problem Solving Abilities through its Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude sections. The GMAT score is used as an admission prerequisite for graduate in management and business programs like MBA.

GMAT is the registered trademark of Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The council is responsible to conduct the test for admission towards more than 5,900 programs offered by more than 2,100 colleges and institutions. The GMAT exam is managed in 112 nations around the world in standardized test facilities.

GMAT Exam dates : GMAT is conducted throughout the year and you can book your appointment at a test center of your convenience. The result is also available on the exam day itself. A candidate is allowed to take five GMAT in a year, eight in lifetime. There should be at least 16 days gap in between two GMAT attempts.

Eligibility Criteria

There are no fixed eligibility criteria provided for GMAT examination. Candidates can check the basic eligibility for the exam from here:

Age Criteria:

  • Candidate must complete the minimum age of 18 years.
  • There is no upper age limit.

Qualification Required:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must pass graduation degree from any recognized institution or university.
  • Many universities or institutions have their own eligibility criteria that candidate also has to fulfill at the time of admission.

GMAT Application Procedure: The application procedure for GMAT is completely online. The candidates have to visit the official website of GMAT to apply online. They have to schedule their test on a convenient date and time at a designated test center. The application fee is USD 250.

GMAT Exam Pattern: GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test of 3 hours 30 minutes. The questions are both objective and subjective in nature. There are four sections, namely Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning. The total number of objective type questions is 90 and the subjective question is one. Total score range is 200 to 800. Each section is time bound.

GMAT Selection Process: After the test is over, the candidates will get their scores. GMAT scores are valid for five years. They candidates can apply to the B-schools in India based on the cutoff. The final selection will be made on the basis of various procedures like Group Discussion, Essay Writing, Personal Interview, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation etc.

GMAT Result: The result is available after few hours of the test. In case the candidate accepts the scores, it will be sent to the candidate as well as the B-schools. In case the candidate declines the scores, it will not be visible to anyone.

GMAT Participating Institutes: Around 2000 B-schools across India and abroad accept the scores of GMAT for their management, Accounts and Finance programmes.
