Railways has introduced new scheme VIKALP in which all the wait listed passengers who booked their tickets through internet will be allotted seats or berths in the alternate trains available
Revised timing for online reservation of Train tickets will be from 00.30 hrs to 23.45 hrs. Current Counters in at Train Originating Stations will also function from 00.30 hrs to 23.45 hrs
IRCTC has offered the wait listed ticket holders the alternate way to continue their journey by means of flight.

(i) A reservation quota of two sleeper class berths has been earmarked in all trains running on non- suburban sections for handicapped persons performing their journey on handicapped concessional ticket. The person accompanying the handicapped person as escort is also allotted the berth out of this quota.
Indian Railways have taken various measures to facilitate access to general as well as Tatkal reservation by common man. Accordingly, more than 2900 computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) locations have been opened and facility of booking through internet has also been provided.
