Quota of 2 berths in sleeper class (one lower and one. middle) is earmarked for physically handicapped persons travelling on concession. physically handicapped persons who can utilize concession only when accompanied by an escort and the second for those handicapped persons for whom it is optional to take an escort with them.
Lower birth in Sleeper class earmarked for senior citizens, ladies passengers above the age of 45 and pregnant women travelling alone has been enhanced to four lower berths per coach instead of two lower berths per coach as per earlier provision. However, earmarking of 2 berths per coach for this category in 3AC and 2AC classes remains the same.
In a relief to senior citizens, female passengers above the age of 45 and pregnant women, the Railways on Wednesday decided to increase the lower-berth seat quota earmarked for them to four from the current two.
