Indian Railways has increased Tatkal charges from Rs.10 to Rs.100. The maximum reservation charges for A.C. Third Class, has been increased from Rs.350 to Rs.400. The minimum charges have been increased from Rs.250 to Rs.300.
Railway Ticket cancellation and refund policy from 12.11.2015 – Information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on 11.12.2015.
Railways has revised the rail fare for Children between 5 years and 12 years who hitherto travelling in half rail fare in reserved coaches have to pay full rail fare w.e.f. 1st April 2016. However for short distance travel without berth can travel in half rail fare which is also applicable for all unreserved coaches.
Railways has revised the Child Fare Rules from April 2016. Children between age of 5 years and 12 years have to pay full fare for travelling in reserved coaches, if seat or berth is sought. If no seat or berth is sought then half of the adult fare shall continue to be charged.
Railway Board is actively engaged in the launch of unreserved ticketing through mobile phone including paperless ticketing. This will save the paper and time of the passengers.
Ministry of Railways has instructed all zonal offices of Railways to display the reservation chart of the passengers at the entrance of the station atleast 4 hours before the departure of the train. Compliance report to be sent to the Director Passenger Marketing.
Railways has introduced new scheme VIKALP in which all the wait listed passengers who booked their tickets through internet will be allotted seats or berths in the alternate trains available
Lower birth in Sleeper class earmarked for senior citizens, ladies passengers above the age of 45 and pregnant women travelling alone has been enhanced to four lower berths per coach instead of two lower berths per coach as per earlier provision. However, earmarking of 2 berths per coach for this category in 3AC and 2AC classes remains the same.
Revised timing for online reservation of Train tickets will be from 00.30 hrs to 23.45 hrs. Current Counters in at Train Originating Stations will also function from 00.30 hrs to 23.45 hrs
Railways will Refund confirmed tickets or RAC e-tickets in case of cancellation of trains. Commuters need not have to submit cancellation forms or file TDR.
