Railways has revised the Child Fare Rules from April 2016. Children between age of 5 years and 12 years have to pay full fare for travelling in reserved coaches, if seat or berth is sought. If no seat or berth is sought then half of the adult fare shall continue to be charged.
No need to enclose identification proof at the time of tatkal booking or mention its number. However any one of the passenger(s) travelling in that tatkal ticket have to produce identity proof as per the list as being followed for general booking.

So far all reserved ticket holders booked through Internet, Tatkal ticket holders, first class and air-conditioned compartment travelers need to carry ID Proof.
