Income-tax Rules amended to provide that bank shall obtain and link PAN or Form No. 60 (where PAN is not available) in all existing bank accounts (other than BSBDA) by 28.02.2017.
The government has asked banks to obtain permanent account number (PAN) or Form No. 60 if PAN is not available, from all bank account holders by February 28, 2017.
Central Government has made PAN number as mandatory for opening Savings Bank Account including other 20 transactions where the transactions exceed a specified limit. Persons who do not hold PAN are required to fill a form and furnish any one of the specified documents to establish their identity.
Income Tax department is in the process to create name based email ids for PAN users for accessing the ITBA portal. Users have been identified who do not having name based email id to receive login credentials and, therefore, may not be able to access the new PAN module under the ITBA system
