A Central Government Employee has may kinds of leave and he has choice to avail any of them. The types of Leave and the eligibility conditions, restrictions etc. in respect of each kind of leave are given below for ready use :

Child Care Leave can be granted to women employees having minor children below the age of 18 years, for a maximum period of 2 years (i.e. 730 days) during their entire service, for taking care of up to two children

Originally, DOPT had declared 6th July 2016 as holiday in Delhi for Ramzan – Now it is shifted to 7th July 2016 – Offices outside Delhi will have to follow the instructions of Employees Co-ordination Committees for deciding the Regional Holidays
Holiday List 2017 provides 17 closed holidays for offices – List of Restricted holidays provided subject to approval by State Level Coordination Committee
Encashment of Earned leave at the time of retirement – 7th Pay Commission has recommended for continuation of the existing ceiling of 300 days of Earned Leave could be encashed at the time of retirement apart from 60 days encashment during the service.
Following complaints raised by Railway Unions for not properly calculating the leave salary of Running Staff of Railways, Northern Railways has issued the calculation method for leave salary entitled to running staff.

While no changes have been effected in many of the leave for Central Government Employees such as Casual Leave, Earned Leave etc, other leave categories have been rationalized.
