Over a million workers from at least 10 central trade unions (CTUs) are participating in the ‘Bharat bandh’ today, also known as the trade union strike, against the anti-labour policies of the central government.

The question of keeping in abeyance the implementation of the Cabinet decision on 29th June 2016 regarding 7th CPC recommendations, till the High Level Committee submits its report to Govt, was discussed in the NJCA meeting.
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended complete parity of past pensioners with present retirees [on the lines of One Rank, One Pension for the armed forces] , but the government has shelved it.

The Controller General of Accounts (CGA) has warned its employees that proceeding on strike could lead to wage cuts or even dismissal from the job.
Earlier in the meeting held by 7th Pay Commission Empowered Committee with Staff side, Cabinet Secretary had requested more time to consider Charter of Demands of Staff Side
NJCA has already submitted its 26 point of charter of demands to 7th Pay Commission Implementation Cell and Empowered Committee – Now it remains to be been whether govt would come up with plan to avert the proposed Strike of Central Government employees
NFIR, one Railway Unions which is a part of NJCA, the Joint Action Committee of all Unions, Federations and Associations of Central Government Employees including Railway Employees, Defence Personnel and Pensioners has called for all India Strike against the anti-employees recommendations of 7th Pay Commission
As per AIRF General Secretary, there is serious resentment among the Central Government employees in general and the Railwaymen in particular on against retrograde recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and non-settlement of their long pending genuine demands.
