You must have started using GConnect ITR-1 online tool for this year (2009-10 A,year 2010-11) by now. Of course this online tool has the provision to generate filled up ITR-1 which can be printed instantaneously.
But will it not be handy if you could save the filled up ITR-1? Installation of virtual printer software (such as dopdf) is the easiest solution for this kind of situation.
doPDF installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list.
To convert to PDF, you just have to print the document to doPDF, the free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software such as GConnect online ITR-1 tool), choose Print and select doPDF.
It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer. Screenshot below shows how easy it is to create a PDF file from Microsoft Word (word to pdf):

This is step by step guide to save your ITR-1 using dopdf:
- Click here to Download dopdf software
- Double click the downloaded exe file to install the same in your computer
- Go to GConnect ITR-1 2009-10 tool
- Fill up your tax details using Form-16
- Click “Print ITR-Page-1” button.
This will generate filled up ITR-Page-1. You can straightaway take the hard copy print out of the same using the pop print window, by selecting the physical printer driver as follows. If you want to save ITR as pdf file for future use then select dopdf virtual pdf printer driver from the list of drivers as follows.
Then click print ‘Ok’ button in the print window. You will be asked the location where you want to save the file. Provide the same and that’s it. Now filled up ITR-1 page 1 is save as pdf file in the location mentioned by you. You can also save ITR-1 page 2 in the same manner. Happy GConnecting.
