U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps has won his seventh gold medal at the Beijing Games – in perhaps his closest race – to tie U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz’s record made in 1972 for gold medals at a single Olympics. But you know why this man wins : He is taking 12,000 Calorie diet every day.

Phelps who admits that all he does is “Swim, Eat and Sleep”, is fuel led by such enormous calorie packed platters that some may wonder when he gets chance to do lengths in his local pool. When in full training, the record breaking American swimmer consumes a staggering 12,000 calories a day, getting through an array of dishes. It is approximately six times the normal calorie intake of for the average adult male.

Phelp’s daily menu


Three fried – egg sandwitches with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five egg omelette. One bowl of grain. Three slices of French toast topped. Three Chocolate-chip pancakes.

One Pound of Pasta. Two large ham and cheese sandwitches with mayonnaise on white bread, plus energy drinks that supply him with another 1000 calories.

One pound of pasta, an entire pizza and even more energy drinks.
